Submitting a parental declaration of interest – how does it work?

You can submit a parental declaration of support if your child is 2, 3 or 4 years old on 1 November of this year and lives in Rotterdam Zuid (Lombardijen) or within a 6-kilometre radius. Have your own DigiD and your child’s BSN* ready. Your personal information will be processed securely.

By submitting a parental declaration of interest, you simply show that you support the initiative for the new school. The declaration is non-binding and is not an enrolment at the school.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Click the ‘Sign the parental declaration of support here’ button below. You will be taken to the correct school initiative on the DUO website. On the DUO website – which is in Dutch – the initiative is called ‘Nieuw Zuid’.
  2. Click ‘Ouderverklaring afgeven’ (Start parental declaration) for the initiative and log in to Mijn DUO using your own DigiD.
  3. Enter your child’s BSN. DUO uses this to check, among other things, your child’s age and place of residence.
  4. Submit the parental declaration. You will immediately see whether the declaration meets the requirements. Afterwards, you can find the declaration in Mijn DUO.

* Where can I find my child’s BSN (‘burgerservicenummer’)?

The citizen service number (BSN) is a unique personal identification number required for identification purposes with the government in the Netherlands. You can find your child’s BSN:

  1. On their passport;
  2. On their identity card;
  3. On their health insurance card;
  4. Or under your family details on MijnOverheid.

Your parental declaration of interest (submitted to DUO using your DigiD login) is not an enrolment and does not commit you to anything. It simply shows your support for this initiative.

This school will become part of SARO: a strong educational network of more than 50 schools united by one mission: “Every child, every opportunity”.

Learning about the world in two languages

At this new integrated childcare and education centre for children aged 0 to 12, childcare, education and after-school activities all come together under one roof. Children build a strong foundation in language, reading and maths, while also learning to explore, collaborate and make independent choices. Our bilingual IB PYP education goes beyond learning in Dutch and English: children ask relevant questions, explore topics from everyday life and learn to look at the world from a broad perspective. This brings an international perspective closer to home.

We recognise that every child has different needs. Children who need additional challenge receive education that matches the way they think and learn. The centre will have specialist expertise in giftedness and in educating gifted children.

The centre will become part of SARO: Samen Ambitieus Rotterdams Onderwijs, the educational organisation responsible for more than fifty schools in and around Rotterdam. Our shared mission is: Every child, every opportunity. Find out more at: www.wijzijnsaro.nl.
